PAPER Gallery is pleased to present Etnik Shala’s exhibition entitled ‘MM6’
This exhibition, Etnik Shala’s first at PAPER Gallery, includes pieces from his collections such as: Geisha,
Wounded Swan, Kornize Marubi, B Cage, Goblen Movement and Ethnicography.
“I have a lot to tell
Reaching out from the cursed Mountains
I am not buried for I am witness”
It is precisely these verses with which we begin this story, because this is a story.
A story about a ‘no man’s land’ with an odd destiny. The place where the ideology is discredited and
where the big stories lose their importance, all that remains is the history and the photographs as it’s
witnesses.
Etnik Shala proudly bows in front of the marvel that is Albanian ethnography. With an incomparable
modesty, the designer treats ‘Xhubleta’ as a temple, as a holy book that carries the spirit and history of
the first civilization in the world.
“The stories of other peoples are generally found carved in stone, while Albanian history is embroidered in
Xhubleta, a 4000-year-old treasure”
Visually grand and chromatically strong while dealing with serious issues such as history and
ethnography, Etnik Shala considers fashion as art and this combined with exceptional technical skills
results in his wonderful collections.
